Charles Darwin on Answers Research Journal
In 1859, in his book Origin of the Species, Charles Darwin (1809–1882) proposed that all life evolved over millions of years from a common ancestor. Darwin’s view of evolution helped radically redefine the worldview of the western world, as he attempted to remove God as Creator and proposed nature itself can do the creating. The outcome of his hypothesis resulted in decades of indoctrination in godless evolutionary thinking and is the reason why many people today reject the accuracy and historicity of Genesis 1–11. In fact, the outworking of Darwin’s ideas led him to reject both the Bible as a divine revelation and the divinity of Jesus.
The aim of these research papers in Answers Research Journal (ARJ) is to consider the biblical account of creation and the flood from the perspective of a recent creation. These ARJ papers will not only address the historicity of Genesis 1–11 but will also consider other related issues such as the inerrancy of the Bible, social Darwinism, the role of natural selection, design in nature, and more, as they relate to Darwin and his publications. ARJ papers will argue that much of what Darwin believed about the Bible and the natural world has been proven wrong.
Darwinism is the sad result of God’s creatures suppressing the truth of his revelation in creation in unrighteousness and exchanging it for a lie, which results in the worship of creation instead of the Creator (Romans 1:18–25).
