Answers Research Journal (ARJ) is a professional, peer-reviewed technical journal, sponsored by Answers in Genesis, for the publication of interdisciplinary scientific and other relevant research from the perspective of the recent Creation and the global Flood within a biblical framework.

ARJ disseminates research conducted by creationist experts in theology, history, archaeology, anthropology, biology, geology, astronomy, and other disciplines of science by providing readers with the results of cutting-edge research that demonstrates the validity of the young-earth model, the global Flood, the non-evolutionary origin of “created kinds,” and more, showing how science is consistent with and confirms the biblical account of origins in Genesis.

Meet the Editor in Chief

Dr. Georgia Purdom

In addition to being the editor in chief of Answers Research Journal, Dr. Georgia Purdom is the Director of Research and Vice President of Educational Content for Answers in Genesis and actively speaks and writes for the ministry.

Dr. Purdom holds a PhD in molecular genetics from The Ohio State University. Her specialty is cellular and molecular biology. Dr. Purdom’s graduate work focused on genetic regulation of factors important for bone remodeling. She served as an assistant and associate professor of biology for six years at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Ohio before coming to AiG in 2006.

Her research as a graduate student led to published papers in the Journal of Neuroscience, the Journal of Bone and Mineral Research, and the Journal of Leukocyte Biology. Dr. Purdom serves as a board member for the Creation Research Society and has published papers in Answers Research Journal and the Proceedings of the International Conference on Creationism. She also presented her research at the 2008 and 2013 International Conference on Creationism. Her research interests focus on the roles of natural selection and mutation in microbial populations. She seeks to understand the original, created, “very good” roles of bacteria in the pre-fall world and genetic mechanisms that have led to their adaptations and pathogenicity in a post-fall world. In addition, she has worked with geologist Dr. Andrew Snelling on the roles of microbes in stromatolite formation.

In addition to her research work, Dr. Purdom has authored numerous lay-friendly and semi-technical articles in Answers magazine and on the AiG website. Her expertise in natural selection was crucial in her design of the Natural Selection Is Not Evolution exhibit at the Creation Museum. She has a passion for educating, training, and equipping the next generation of creation scientists to engage science with a biblical worldview.
